Common Sense for Animals Follows 6 Pillars

All Animals are to be treated with Respect & Dignity regardless of how they interact with people.

Common Sense for Animal’s Director

Dr. Robert Blease

Dr. Blease graduated from Ohio State University’s school of veterinary medicine.  He has been in practice for 53 years and is the owner of the Animal Health Center.  He loves the challenge of diagnosing difficult cases.  Dr. Blease lives on the property where the AHC is located and owns a small local horse farm.  Dr. Blease is the founder and president of Common Sense for Animals, Warren County’s only no-kill animal shelter.

Our Philosophy

Around the World, these Truths are Self Evident and they are the Facts of Life

• Extinction is forever.

• Companion pets and domestic animals exist only because of man.

• Wildlife are important and they are a diminishing resource.

• Animal research is necessary to improve animal and human health.

• Hunting, fishing and trapping can be both a privilege and a requirement to survival.

• Fish and fishing are both important.

• Farmers are our best friends.

• Animals comfort and entertain us.

 • We eat animals and rely upon them for many of our basic commodities.

• The planet is not ours, we only share it.

• “Dominion over the Earth” means we are the responsible caretakers.

• A healthy environment is the blueprint for long-term civilizations.

• All animals have the right to be treated with respect and dignity, including their right to survival.

We believe that all animals have the right to be treated with dignity under all circumstances.  After all, we eat animals, use them for research, hunt them, use them for entertainment, and often times for companionship.  Again, regardless of their use in our society, all animals are to be protected to the full extent of the law.  They are entitled to humane care, a clean habitat or environment, and protection from cruelty. We seek to educate others to help them to understand and appreciate the role that animals play in our world and we play in theirs.
